New Detonator drivers.

Not really new per se but it seems alot of people are trying to use they 23.11 drivers with their GeForce 4's and thats not really a good idea.
Detonator 4
Those drivers work for any NVIDIA card, and specifically for the GeForce 4, as older drivers don't really seem to support the GeForce 4 so well/at all.

Anywho, just a little FYI for people who are having problems with their new card.

And a little mis-information while you are at it, eh?

????
Mis-information about what?
They are from NVIDIA, they are newer than the ones you can find on NVIDIA's site, and they fixed the problem I had with my GeForce 4....

I have a VisionTek GF3 Ti-200 that I am about to install. Is it pretty widely accepted that the latest Detonator drivers are the best? Should I always use the latest official release, or are there bugs with certain versions. I am new to this whole nvidia world (was stuck in the VooDoo world still), so if you have advice, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

I visited the Gainward site to look for drivers and they have the 2750s posted as their drivers for the GF3s and GF4s. I dont know if their drivers have been tweaked for the Gainward cards, or if they are just betas or what, but they have them there. Thats the newest manufacturer recommended Detonator drivers I have seen.

It only makes sense that you can't use an old Detonator driver with a G4. You don't really expect older drivers to support future boards do you (sometimes a year away)? That would be kind of silly. Usually, the latest Detonator drivers are the greatest.

I thought I stated it right but I guess not, I was tired at the time.
Those drivers are official NVIDIA drivers, they are good from TNT on to GeForce 4, they are THE latest drivers and are not Visiontek specific nor tweaked as such.

Why they are not on NVIDIA's site is beyond me, but they are not branded and have no traces of VisionTek tampering (being WHQL certified I would think they are straight from NVIDIA, btw if memory serves WHQL = Windows Hardware Qualifying Labs, AKA Windows Logo Certified).

So go get em and install em!
While the 23.11's did work with my GeForce 4 they did poorly.

they have been downloaded and installed. 🙂 However, I have not tested them yet as I don't have any games installed. That's the next thing on the list. 😀

WHQL is,

<< The purpose of the Microsoft® Windows® Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) is to ensure the compatibility of hardware with Microsoft Windows operating systems. WHQL provides test kits to qualify devices, systems and servers for the "Designed for Windows" logos and for inclusion on the Windows Hardware Compatibility List (HCL).

The Windows Hardware Compatibility (HCT) kits are based on the Microsoft Windows Logo Program for Hardware requirements. Products that earn the "Designed for Windows" logo must pass testing to ensure that they meet Microsoft standards for compatibility on the Windows operating systems designated on the logo. System and hardware manufacturers can earn the "Designed for Windows" logo for use on product packaging, advertising, and marketing materials for systems and devices that pass compliance testing.
