I've done some searching and have come across programs like CCleaner and PC-decrapifier. Is that the best way to clear out all the bad stuff?

I've also read you can manualy install all the extra junk through the control panel.

Lastly re-installing vista, if I did this would I have to redownload all the drivers that were installed when i got the computer, in order for everything to workcorrectly?

What is the most efficient way as well as easy if possible as I am not the best with computers, and what if I am not provided the Vista Cd?

Also an offtopic question, what is the best way to calibrate the screen upone arrival of the computer?

Use Autoruns and CCleaner. Can't go wrong, and they're free!

Also try entering this command:

Start -> Run - services.msc

and disable all services you don't need. Be careful doing this, however.

Personally, I always do a clean re-install. Even if you're not provided with a Vista OS disc, if you have a friend with a Vista DVD, you should be able to do clean install using that and your laptop's vista key. You might also be able to contact Dell and request one. Considering it's a Dell laptop, I'm willing to bet most, if not all of the drivers you'll need are located on Windows Update anyway.

There are usually some easy color calibration tools you can download to just "eyeball" it. Otherwise, if you want to spend some money, you can get one of those calibration devices that actually measure the screen's output, color accuracy, etc...

The drivers for the video card might install a control panel app that helps calibrate the screen as well.

Another way might be Windows Post-Install Wizard, which I've used years ago for WinXP.

I don't know whether or not it works with Vista, but you might explore it.
