Doesn't look too bad spec wise.

*edit: changed the title 🙂*

Does anyone know if the CPU is upgradeable? It would be nice to extend the life of the laptop when the faster processors come down in price.

anyone else notice that it boasts up to 7 hour battery life for the 1500 model? little star that says depends on configuration. What do I have to configure it to be to get 7 hours lol?

Add the 9 cell battery for 40 bucks more.

Dont forget to add your free creative ear buds in accessories guys😀

Too bad the CPU upgrades on this system are such a ripoff. If you're going to spend $170 on the 8600gt I'd imagine you'd want a cpu higher than 1.6Ghz too:

$115 extra for 1.8Ghz --> $15 price difference on Newegg
$195 extra for 2.0Ghz --> $51 price difference on Newegg
$300 extra for 2.2Ghz --> $140 price difference on Newegg

If the prices are like this now, does it make sense that there may be an even sweeter deal down the road for the back to school specials?

Mobile processors have a price drop coming in September - I don't believe they will change on 7/22

QFT

This same sort of config caught my eye in the recent Macbook Pro revision.

But this is a lot cheaper than a Macbook Pro!

Sadly no option for Vista Home Premium.

Oh well, probably cheaper to grab Windows MCE 2005 instead and install it yourself 🙂

I believe I read on another forum that you can call in and upgrade to vista home premium for $29 I may be wrong but it may be worth a shot if you want it.

Another fun fact - this particular line of laptops supposedly comes with no bloatware installed besides the Google Toolbar.

I noticed you could deselect just about everything, even the security subscription trials (good thing, since Norton is impossible to uninstall well).

Very nice options!

I'm very tempted...

Anyone know if this comes with a regular PCIMA slot?

no PCMCIA, the Vostro has Express card slot.

Damn that means I would need to get integrated sprint evdo or buy a USB evdo card and neither of those options are cheap

i would assume its upgradeable. basically the only company that makes laptops without socketed chips is apple, because well they hate it when people upgrade anything.

i have a dell latitude d620 and its completely upgradeable, and the inspirson 1500s are so... i would doubt these arent.
