Best I could config is $989, and I HAD to choose the Harmon speaks because the conifgurator won't let you choose the monsoon without adding it later.

good thing i didnt get in on earlier deals.. now i dont have to deal with rebates..

how long as dell home been taxing CA residents? ive bought stuff from them before, and was never taxed.. but this time, my cart shows tax.. oh well, $693 still a great deal.

alittle ot, but since my sis doesnt play pc games, which video card would be better.. the ati rage ultra or a voodoo3?
 
Can anyone tell me If i select No Speakers with (monsoon speaker checked) will they take the order?

because if you select monsoon then it gives you error, because you must check below to get the mosoon speakers ($130)

so with harmon speakers total will be $714 after all discounts for 4400 2gh

what you all think ?

just click the "select monsoon speakers" bullet, and leave the monsoon speakers checkbox unchecked..

click the continue button on the bottom.. you'll get another warning, but click okay.. and then click add to cart.. works for me.
 
Lowest I could get is $843.00. What am I doing wrong? I chose no monitor... nm...changed software upgrade...thanks!

if she ABSOLUTELY will NOT play games on this pc, EITHER would be fine, but the rage ultra would be what i would go for, for video playback and the like... good luck!
 
if you config without speakers, and get the error, won't they force you to buy the speakers still or not ship it? or does that only happen if you try to reconfigure it with the "Mouse already included in Logitech Wireless Package" and didn't select the wireless keyboard/mouse combo?
 
Okay....me just ordered the system with the 64mb video(+40). Now have to look for cheap ram. For everyone that want to upgrade to 512mb ram, you have to get 2 of 256mb ddr ram. The 4400 series only have 2 Dimm slot and one of them is taken up by a 128mb. Another options is to just get another 256mb ddr ram and plug it into the second slot to make it 384mb which should be enough for doing everyday task.

I believe the Northwood chip is 512k cache.
Dell is only offering the 512k cache on P4 2.2GHz, which is currently only offered on the 8200 w/the rambus ram.
The 4400 only goes up to P4 2.0GHz w/256k cache.
Gateway has P4's w/512k cache. I've been waiting for Dell to do this.

i havent checked this deal out, but the 40 dollar upgrade for video card upgrades to the geforce 2 mx 64mb most likely, and from my experience (i got the dell 4400 deal on feb 28th), the video card was very poor. For $48 + $5 shipping you can get a "VISIONTEK Xtasy 5632 GEFORCE2 GTS-V 4X/2X 32MB DDR AGP - OEM" from newegg which will a much better performer as it overclocks very well. Unless you really want tv-out on your video card, i would suggest you go the Gts-v route.

Just so u get the picture:
My 3dmark2001 score for the geforce 2 mx 64mb was about 3000.
My 3dmark2001 score for the geforce 2 gts 32mb was about 4000.

Please note that i did NOT overclock the geforce2 mx, but i DID overclock the geforce2 gts.
I didn't even bother overclocking the mx because it has sdram which i doubt would make that much of a difference, but if someone has a geforce2mx overclocked please inform everyone what your 3dmark2001 score is...

yea, from what i heard from the feb 28th deal only people who put mouse already included in logitech wireless package had their orders halted. from what i am assuming they need a mouse and keyboard when they do the testing on your system.
 
thats freaking retarded. They dont use your mouse and keyboard. They clone the hard drives and just burn them in for awhile and they are off to shipping
 
$30 is ok rather than getting charged $130 in the end. IMO.
"would you want to pay $130 or return your computer, sir!?" (and pay restocking fee)
"send us back that monsoon w/o you getting shipping reimbursement and we'll send you the harmon kardon for $30!"

i've worked @ an e-tailer before and shipping dept. guys knows what's on & what's not on a pre-configured machines.
take that mouse from feb28 as an example. those guys are clever enough to be on shipping dept 😎
