I just bought actually 2 Dell 1905FP's, with the thought of selling one on ebay. First monitor I open - big scratch on the LCD panel in the lower right hand corner. Pissed, I open the 2nd one, hoping that its good, open it up, looks great loading up - ran a dead pixel test, one big bright pixel on the right hand side of the monitor. I already called and sent back the one with the scratch to get a refund; ebay has too many of these listed already. My question is should I return the one with the 1 dead pixel? Its driving me nuts, I can pick it out only any color other than white; since I have the 21 day return policy is it worth my while or am I going to keep getting defective ones like the first one I opened?

Coming from a CRT monitor, ghosting doesn't seem to be too bothersome(yet), I can notice it even when dragging an AIM window. I'm really disappointed in the image quality, DVD's look terrible, it looks like a noise filter in Photoshop was applied to the image.

I dont think you can return for 1 dead pixel. I think you have to have either 3 or 5 (cant remember).

And pixels aren't big so i highly doubt 1 pixel on a 19" monitor will be much of a nuisance.

I am pretty sure you can return it. However, your chances are low of getting a perfect LCD without at least one dead pixel. If it is bothering the living daylights out of you, then call them up and send it back. If it's only a minor nuisance, then you can probably just live with it. I would keep it personally, but that's just me. I can't stand to part ways with my LCD now that I have it hooked up ( a Dell UltraSharp 2001FP).

bocamojo, I've bought two LCDs so far and had to return one due to the screen door effect and all three had 0 dead pixels.

The fact that i've read reports of people getting perfect LCD's, even multiple one's at that makes me wonder why I got 2 that were both defective in some way. I'm going to keep returning during the 21-day period until I get one thats decent.

Fair enough. Hopefully you have better luck the next time.

Weird, at work I set up around 70 of the Dell 1905FP (using one now as I type this) and not one has a dead pixel. I would take it back, but thats me, I need perfection on my PCs, I even too back my Gameboy SP last year because of one little dead pixel. The store manager couldnt even see it but I could. :)

Just called dell, they're going to send me a new one, then I can send back the defective one. The rep did mention that they might not let it go through for one dead pixel, but the claims department didn't seem to have a problem with it. Hopefully this time i'll get lucky...
