http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/06/justice/rape-definition-revised/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

The old definition of rape was established in 1927. It defined rape as a man forcibly penetrating a woman through her vagina.
It is revised to include anal penetration with any body part or object.

i disagree that rape should include object or even 'ANY' body part (ie: finger, toungue).
i think rape should just be forcible PENILE penetration against the victims conscent.

any other kind of unwanted penetration should be defined as something else.

DISCUSS!

That it now broadly includes intoxication is not a good thing. How many millions of people have had sex while both parties are intoxicated? This new definition better opens the door to buyer's remorse turning into a life-ruining problem for someone.

I think rape should include vaginal and anal, both genders as victims, and anything being used. You can create a special category of 'penile rape' if you want to distinguish it.

On the other hand, I'll take this thread as a good chance to remind people of a good cause, a group fighting to prevent the real problem of prisoner rape.

www.justdetention.org.

It's a modern horror going on in our prisons not getting enough effort to prevent it.

What word would you use to describe a situation where someone violated your rectum with a broom handle? That sounds an awful lot like rape. Sexual assault just really doesn't get the point across.

Start putting consent signature cards in your wallet right next to your condoms maybe? Getting a picture of their ID to prove they aren't minors is probably a good idea too but I think your still guilty if she has a fake ID. Maybe start carrying one of those license scanner things? Or is there an app for that?

It sounds like this is mostly a good thing, but I wonder if any attention will ever be drawn to the thousands of men who have their lives ruined by false rape accusations every year...

A lot of the people on the right see that as a positive part of punishment in prison.

Sounds like the law makes it impossible for a woman to rape a man.

How bout rape is any unwanted sexual contact of any kind that involves penetration of any sort?

That way it's distinguished from sodomy/molestation, but doesn't exclude female perpetrators.

That's bullshit, although I do take issue with how coddled people in our prison system are in general.

So I'm mistaken? People on the right care about this issue? I'm not saying everyone on the right wants men to be butt raped in prison but their is a certain population that enjoys seeing the poor downtrodden criminals pay for what they did with their ass.

Uh... if you google "rape definition" on google their definition says the violent sexual act of a man forcing himself upon a woman. that's some sexist shit. anything can be raped, rape just means to take without will. you can rape a land of resources ffs, rape is an old as hell word.

I disagree with you about coddling, but I'm glad to see the right agree it's important we protect people in our custody from rape.

There's anecdotal cases of people making comments in favor of rape, but I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt they're not such monsters.

penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim

This sounds about as accurate as can be to me.

The legal meaning has always been sexual. Other meanings are not referring to rape in the legal sense. And until very recently, in basically every legal system in the U.S. it has required a female victim/male perp. Is that "some sexist shit"? Of course it is. Our society only started becoming less sexist in the past few decades.

I disagree. Putting your finger in my mouth, while really, really wierd, isn't rape.

There are other things like assault and sexual assault for that.

Sigh. I carefully chose the words "vaginal and anal", but what came out of my keyboard was "oral" as I'd considered it and not included it. My typing error.

But now, my typo puts oral front and center as a question. I can see oral acts that are quite reasonable to consider rape and others that seem to fall short, as you mention.

I'd have to give some more thought to that, but vaginal and anal seem like easy calls.

Just FYI- this change does not affect the criminal definition of rape at he federal or state levels. All it does is change the definition of rape for crime reporting statistics. Since federal money is doled out based on reporting statistics this has the potential to shift which states and programs get more money; it does not affect the criminality of rape in any way.

That's humor, eh?

Now tell some holocaust jokes. Since the rape is real.

I thought about Photoshoping one with Hitler's face, but too much work for something silly. (Not rape, the picture)

And I think about what you posted earler about others wanting it to continue in prison, I don't think its that as much as just saying you're screwed (figuratively) if your go to prison because its so prevalent.

question - a woman consents to sex and to being tied up and the guy is wearing a condom. guy takes condom off and does her and she changes her mind seeing him take the rubber off. is that now rape? i'd say yes.

reverse the scenario. guy is with a girl, tied to a bed with a rubber on. girl takes it off him and rides him to get herself pregnant while he also changed his mind seeing the condom taken off. that's also rape
