They're awesome if you setup proper "kill zones" on the map. Generally, I build a lot of Cannon and Tesla towers in a specific area, then put a Command tower in their vicinity to grab the extra resources. The rest of the map has Meteor / Cluster (I think that's the name) / Laser towers to soften everything up.

Hmm I haven't used much in the way of Tesla towers or Cannons for that matter. I should experiment with them more. The map I'm on (Standing Orders) has lots of shielded units and I'm getting my ass kicked.

Cannons aren't bad at all. Despite the slow fire, they hit through shields and theyre better vs air compared to guns because of the extra range.

Command towers are good, as mentioned before, put them where you have a bunch of strong towers. So really only one or two on most levels. It's important to upgrade them which isn't really expensive to do anyway. Once you build one, concentrate your upgrades and building new towers around it.

I've never used Teslas for anything significant.

A couple of general strategies that help a lot in this game:

1) Build from the cores outward.

It's VERY tempting to start building from the entry path so they never get to your cores, but if you start at the cores and work out you get better usage on most maps. This because your towers hit them both coming and going, which means you can wait a little longer to build and earn more interest. The short time that they have your cores is outweighed by the ability for each tower to be active for twice as long.

2) Red gun towers are an extremely efficient use of money when combined with temporal towers. You can beat most levels using only gun towers and temporal towers, although that's never the optimal strategy.

3) When you have flexible pathing like in many of the new DLC maps, route the path around a concussion tower (or two) and upgrade them all the way. That will take down all the small stuff which is very helpful because it means your big guns can be bringing down the tough mobs instead of wasting their shots picking off the small stuff.

yeah, cannon towers are awesome when you have a nice group of them upgraded. I pretty much only use gun and cannon towers.

And maybe a meteor tower or two if I'm feeling a bit randy.

Thanks for the tips, very helpful on getting me toward the end. I'm now on the second to last map, 'lockdown' and I can see why it's called a grinder! It's more like a mind bender lol. I've yet to make a successful path of doom because of those damn fast units are ruining me.

That was one of the harder maps iirc. Was fun finally beating it, good times.

Wait til you get to the last map! it's... complex.

I'm pretty happy to have bought this during the last Holiday Sale on Steam. It was only like $1 to $2.50 at most. I played this exclusively on my Thinkpad T61 with integrated Intel X3100 graphics on the 1680x1050 15" LCD. It's playable at 15-30fps. When I played it on my gaming build (in sig) it was a great looking game. Still surprised it only ran on one core, as performance can drop below 60fps at time on medium settings.

Maybe I should get back into it...
