I've been hoping they'd all die in a plane crash/tour bus accident before they could finish this. Now I'll have to focus all that hope for a disaster before they complete their next pile of excrement.

Umm, no 😀

Got my CD yesterday and have been listening to it. It's starting to grow on me. Definitely better than Everday but still not quite up to BTCS

i've listened to it 3 times now, and i'm starting to dig it. the songs are very different (compared to each other) on the CD. it makes a nice change of pace from my usual cd rotation. it works for me !

my only problem is that I CANT get it to my damn MP3 player and its pissing me off. cant seem to rip the damn thing. DAMMIT. if anyone can help, please PM me.

Check out the other DMB thread. They have a link to how to rip it.

Can't believe how I've done a complete 180 on this album!! 😛 It's really good. There aren't the long, drawn out masterpieces that I love from BTCS but this is damn good. My favorites so far:

Stolen Away on 55th and 3rd
Out of My Hands
Steady As We Go

Not a bad record. It's fairly obvious many of the songs are just the foundation for some serious jam sessions. Dave's lyrics still aren't that great and it's been a long time since Boyd was really put to good use. Still, theres some good stuff on the new disc. I'd love to see a few of the tracks live and hear how they work and explore them.

Boyd was at his best on BTCS (yes, I'm mentioning THAT album again, but it is SO damn good) 😛

Amazon has lack-luster reviews on this album.

Springteen's latest seems to be doing better...

Fvck Amazon and their crazy reviewers 😛

Picked it up on Tuesday.

I wasn't real sure about it at first, but after listening to it some more its growing on me. Good album

I bought this album today.

I love it  (this coming from someone who was never a huge DMB fan, but really liked the first single off this new album)

the new Weezer album is mediocre at best, but I'll need to give it a few more listens before totally dismissing it.

Big thumbs up to "Old Dirt Hill" as well. That song just makes you wanna roll down the windows and jam 😀

And some of the "stuff" Matthews and the rest of the band came up with is the most immediate, desperate music of their careers. The somber, piano-driven "Out of My Hands" is about getting on with your life after 9/11. "Hunger for the Great Light" is a flagrantly dirty tune about sex. And the album's first single, "American Baby," urges the United States to stop with the world-police antics and return to what made the country great in the first place.

" 'American Baby' is about the qualities of America that appeal to the world. The hopeful quality and the romantic quality of Sunday barbecues and playgrounds and hotdogs and baseball," Matthews said. "A lot of people around the world look at that and say, 'That's the beautiful thing about America.' ... That's the hope of the nation. It's not how ass-kicking we are."

AHA!! Someone has put into words what made me not like "Stand Up" at first. Once I trained my brain to not compare the new sound to sounds of old and take it for what it is, I was able to enjoy the new album 😀

The songs here are expertly crafted, factory tightened and polished as a brand new Hibachi grill. But they lack the multiple choruses, complex jazz/folk structures and the distinct highs and lows that longtime fans have come to expect from DMB?s composition. Matthews doesn?t string together near impossible lyrical lines as in ?#41? and ?The Stone? and last year?s new crop of meaty songs: ?Crazy Easy?, ?Sugar Will?, ?Joy Ride? and ?Hello Again?, are either absent or here in short order form. This may come as a disappointment to long time fans who are ardent to watch a lean ?Two-Step? that still manages to top out at 9 minutes with no jamming (Boulder citizens, nod your heads.) But the good news is that everything about Stand Up feels gloriously new and bold, often unapologetically so.

Couldn't have said it better myself 😀

not worth my time disagreeing with people that are totally non eclectic...

That sucks. I've been hoping they'd all die in a plane crash/tour bus accident before they could finish this. Now I'll have to focus all that hope for a disaster before they complete their next pile of excrement.

and as for this ass... you need to be taken out and anally raped until your colon reverses and looks out your ass like a tea bag.

So if you don't like something, we all shouldn't like it as well?
