New Cruncher - Special thanks to nVidia and my bad spending habits

Hello all,

Well, I got back yesterday from the Gnomedex convention in Des Moines, Iowa. With me came an Epox 8RDAE with the nForce 2 Ultra 400 chipset that I won at an nVidia session on overclocking. With this motherboard not having enough features to go in my main system and my not having another system worthy of the board, I was compelled to thin down my wallet a bit and buy some new stuff.

So, on the way should be an Athlon XP 2500+ and two 256Mb PC3200 CAS=2 memory modules. I also splurged a bit and got a Thermalright SK-7 and a YS-Tech TMD fan to do the cooling honors. The bottom line is that by the weekend the TeAm should have about eight (or more) extra WUs per day🙂

BTW, while in Des Moines I had dinner with TeAm member CADkindaGUY. Thanks for taking to time to meet me, Martin!!

What overclocking are you running?

So hows that Pirillo guy doing?

Sounds like a real nice system, hopefuly you can get it up to 2.3~2.4Ghz. You should be able to get atleast 11WUs/day out of that assuming 100% dedication.

I'll probably be heading to Des Moines whenever the State Fair is, its pretty boring but its not like what I'm doing now (nothing) isn't.

Pirillo is doing pretty well. It was his 30th birthday on Saturday. He seemed really entergetic. He spoke once on the main floor. The topic was how RSS would change information delivery forever. It was quite interesting.
