I have an old 21" Sony Trinitron sitting here, but as most CRTs do over the years they begin to slowly die. So I'm thinking of replacing it. What I really want is a Sony FW900, lots of refirbished ones are available on EBay. Has anyone ever used or owned one of these 100lb beasts? By the way weight is not an issue at all, I will not move this thing, I have a 19" and 21" CRT for lans, and have gotten very comfortable carrying them everywhere.

I used one awhile ago, for gaming you can't beat it. Colors are richer and just better then any LCD out there. What bothered me the most was the power consumption, I would suggest a lcd for web surfing etc and only use the fw900 when your gaming. I still think about how stupid I was for getting rid of mine sometimes. whatever I'm not about to drag another one up my stairs lol.

My Sony 400PS (19") is at least 8 years old and still looks great. I'm gonna keep it until it dies, or until LCD's (or some other newer technology) look as good, whichever comes first. I've never needed to move it in those 8+ years, so I don't need anything lightweight. Never needed to put anything behind it either.

I would avoid Grade B. Scratches or burn-in on the screen or other major picture defects. Only good for word processing or e-mail perhaps.
