On a side note, the new drivers are great. With the old ones, MP3s only played thorough the front L/R, even though i have a 5.1 system, with the new ones, they play through every speaker, Front L/R, Rear L/R, and Center.

Doesnt matter. Ive worked it out. You have to go back to the DL type selection (where you set OS, hardware, lang, type), and select Application rarther than Driver. Lol.

Found a small problem.
I played Vice City for a bit, and when i exited it, the speaker/enviroment settings icons in AudioHQ have dissappeared. So i re-installed the AudigyHQ, and they still havnt appeared. It doesnt both me too much as i usually access those from the tray icon, but its a bug none the less.

According to the PPL at creative that i talked to (thorough the interactive chat), the same problem is on all of their test machines, and the fixes that they suggested didnt work, so we`ll have to come up with one ourselves, or live with it, its not like its a big problem.

I`ve just installed them and notice that too, however go to "surround mixer " which is in the Sound Blaster Audigy programs menu ,that`s what I did to change volume, bass, treble, speaker settings etc.

I usually access the missing things through the tray icon, but just thought i`d point out the problem for others. I can still access them.

Almost as bad as video drivers! lol.

Hehe you mean ATi drivers ;).It does seem the sound is different with these new Audigy drivers,my first impressions(playing music) were bass was not as powerful but midrange is slightly more detailed even after playing with the sound settings.

I`m going to try some games and see if they sound different now,Gothic 2 is my first test.

:)

Yeah....the bass seems almost gone. I had to really turn up my subwoofer. The sound still feels quite different though.

There's new ones that have been released @ the Europe Site or get the BETA 1's that will expire @ the end of next month when new Drivers will be released

Edit=I don't know if they are the same Drivers as originally posted but may be worth a try

The ones on the europe site are the ones that im on about, and the beta1s mention that they`ll expire, and when they do, another set with the optimisations will be out, which are the ones just released.

ok I posted this in another thread in the fourms, but I think I'll also post it here..

ok getting the Surround mixer back into the New AudioHQ isnt that hard to do..
I managed to correct the problem by doing this,
copy the CtSSpkU.ahq file to the:
Program Files\Creative\AudioHQ\Ahq Directory (or appreopreate DIR) and the mixer and
speaker setup also known as the Surround Mixer should reappear in AudioHQ..

the newest Core Driver Pack is very buggy, to be honest even tho the .383 drivers are Not marked as Beta, you should Consider them Beta Drivers. there are serious problems that CL has yet to acknowledge. I would be personally embarrassed to put out such flawed drivers.

There are a few enhancements such as upgrade from 32 channels to 64, and likely more than a few other enhancements that were in the previous Official BETA driver.

I am still running the .383 drivers I have not seen or hear any great improvement in preformace or in sound quality (I'm probably going to go back to the .253 drivers soon). the .383 drivers have allot of fixes in them that makes them better than the Offical Beta drivers. But they are really not that good especially if you use you sound card for more than just gaming, this latest driver really sticks it to the Audiophile, Music enthusiast, and musicans.. These drivers seem to really mess up the MIDI aspect of the card.
But again it really depends on how fully you use your sound card, some people will be completely oblivious to these flaws. It seems to go on a case by case basis.

Id say unless your starved for a update stay with the .253 dirvers, they are alot more stable and consistant than the .383 drivers

Did you notice more "hiss" from the speakers?

The sound just seems more muffelled, and less rich. It also doesn't sound as deep. I havn't noticed much hiss, no.

I just went back to the first driverpack. Wow, I noticed the difference in sound right away. The difference is shocking to me, on my Klipsch Promedias. The bass is pumping and beating away much more so, it gives it a deeper, fuller, richer sound.

I really don't give a crap if it gives a bit more performance, i can't take the sound quality of the new drivers.

I cant be arsed chaging back to the old ones again at the moment, but ive heard that Creative are releasing another set of drivers soon, so i`ll try them, and if they arnt very good, i`ll go back to the old ones then.
