gonna jump on the axia bandwagon (can't beat the price) and try one out. i'm about to buy a 1ghz 266FSB tbird chip from newegg, $137 shipped. is there anything wrong with this? i'm assuming it's a gauanteed AXIA chip, from what i've been reading on the hot deals forum. anyone that DIDN'T get an axia chip?

i'm hoping for a 1.33 or 1.4+ setup, but don't want anything as loud as a delta in my case. what kind of cooler would you guys reccommend? i think as long as it's 1.3+ i'll be happy, was leaning toward a taisol fan. any reccommendations would be great, LMK. :)

the 1.1ghz and 1.2ghz are $10 and $20 more respectively, i was thinking about popping for one of those but i really haven't seen any strong indications that i should, or that they even OC farther then a 1ghz chip.

That's a great idea. If you get 1.3-1.4GHz, you will have gotten a good deal. :)

Ultimately it is your choice, but I would not count on 1.4+ out of a newegg 1 gig right now. Obviously my opinion is worth what you pay for it, but I think your chance of getting a week 8-10 1 gig AXIA from a high volume dealer like newegg is not very good. My guess is you'll get a week 15ish and quite possibly get stuck at 1.1-1.2.

You can get a guarranteed 1.3-1.4 from Compuwiz for about $25-50 more, or you could pop for a newegg 1.2 or so; at least in that case you'd have to be the most unlucky guy alive to fail to hit 1.35 or so (I have one doing 1.38 right now).

Compuwiz also happens to sell Taisol fans (and ASII) and will have cheaper shipping than newegg. Again, I'm not saying you shouldn't buy a 1 gig from newegg, but it ain't no sure thing. Good luck :)

Steve, got my copper Taisol and AS II, great service! (BTW, in spite of my glowing recommendations, my integrity is untainted--I pay full retail :( ;))

I was real surprised to see your return address, my in-laws live in Foothill Farms, right near the intersection of Greenback Lane and Elkhorn by the freeway. I'll be out there later this summer--small world! :D
