New CPU for budget gaming rig

Well, I installed my new X3 435 yesterday, all went well.

I tried unlocking the 4th core...I guess i'm an unlucky one heheh!
The computer just stopped working at all, the power switch was non responsive. At first I thought I fried something, like the old OCZ 450W, but I just cleared the CMOS with the jumpers and it worked again.

FYI: I selected AUTO from ACC and AUTO from Unleashing Mode.

There's 2 options, the 4th core is bad or i'm forgetting something...

its funny, mine did not want to work at first either, it crashed and bios locked out a couple times and then it suddenly worked and has since
who knows

Ok, maybe I did something wrong or did it too quickly.

I'll retry tonight...

God bless the reset jumper HAHAH!

Sometimes you can't unlock the cores, but don't give up just yet. Some unlocks just need a "nudge".

Try increasing your CPU-NB voltage by 0.025V or so.

Well, I tried 3-4 times yesterday and nothing works. I guess I got a bad 4th core.
I didn't tried to increase the voltage thoughmaybe later heheh!

thanks all!

any of those X3's unlockable?

if so, the X3's which is unlockable = win.

EDIT: doe see your trying to unlock the 4th core... yeah keep playing with it.

What would you guys recommend doing next?

I tried the simple ACC to "Auto" and Unleashing Mode to "Enabled" 5 times in a row and doesn't work.

I tries ACC set to "Per core" and "All core" and same results.

Next step I've been recommended by deimos3428 is to increase the CPU voltage a bit. I presume the stock voltage is 1.325v...? So increasing by 0.025 until it works? and stopping at what, 1.45v before exploding the chip?

Other thing, before enabling ACC, should I put the CPU to stock speed?

It's just that I never played with voltage...

Thanks for your help!

Ok, I realised I forgot to disable Cool & Quiet before trying to unlock...which is probably why I didn't worked.

When I get my new CPU HSF, i'll make REAL attemps...

Crosses fingers and toes and other crossable body parts...

Don't feel bad, my AMD 555 BE unlocks perfectly fine and POSTS as an X4 955, but will not boot into windows. So close, and yet, so far.

Clarification.

I didn't say to increase the CPU voltage, though a minor CPU bump wouldn't hurt. But don't go above 1.325V for this purpose, it'll just add heat unnecessarily.

I said increase the CPU-NB* voltage, which is separate setting and defaults to 1.2V IIRC. Don't bump it more than 100 mV, and do so in 25mV increments. (ie, 1.200, 1.225, 1.250, 1.275, 1.300). If it isn't stable by 1.3V, stop.

Other thing, before enabling ACC, should I put the CPU to stock speed?
Yes. We're not overclocking yet, we're stabilizing.

*This setting is also sometimes called "Processor-NB voltage" or "CPU NB VID", refers to the voltage going to the integrated memory controller on the processor. Not the same as "NB Voltage", which is the voltage to the North Bridge chipset on the motherboard. I know, confusing as all hell.
