Make sure to get the venice core 3000. Also, newegg offers free shipping thru the 31st on some items.

You'll want dual channel memory. I'm assuming that the memory you listed there is one stick? Look for dual channel kits (256x2 or better yet, you should probably get a gigabyte, so 512x2)

Like the other said get the Venice CPU, and 2 x 512 ram for dual channel. You should be able to find some pretty cheap 1GB kits.

Corsair Value 1gb kit $81.99

You will love that rig:D

If you plan on some serious overclocking you picked the right mobo. The DFI is definately geared toward overclockers, but is also a bit picky and takes the most knowledge and tweaking to get set up properly. If your not into hard core overclocking there are several NF4 boards cheaper than the Ultra D that are good, not great overclockers and would be easier to setup.

Honestally I wouldnt go with much less than a 3500+ if you plan on doing heavy overclocking. There have been numerous reports of AMD heavily binning their CPUs. More than likely you will get a dud if you buy a 3000+. I'd hedge your bets and get a higher PR chip if possible. Also do make sure it is a Venice core

In addition I want to warn you about that powersupply. Most likely that is non-ATX 2.0 complient. Meaning it wont work well with your motherboard. Make sure that it is to prevent any future headaches

I dont plan on doing any overclocking and If I do it wont be anything serious. Any motherboards that are cheaper that I can get. And what power supply is the best bang for the buck for this system? Thanks guys

If you don't want to overclock, then don't get the DFI Lanparty. It's basically THE overclocking board. If you're only going to be aiming for a moderate overclock, the MSI Neo-4 Platinum is a great board. It has TONS of great features, including support of SATAII and RAID 5. Oh, and I'd go with the 3200+ Venice if you're running stock. It's a better bang for your buck than the transition between the 3200+ and the 3500+.

Looks good:thumbsup: I like your choice of PS. And that 3000+ should O/C easily to 2.2ghz (3500+ speed) on default voltages. IMHO as long as you don't excessively overvolt and your temps stay reasonable, moderate overclocking will not damage your equipment in any way. Performance for free:D I,m currently running a 3700+ overclocked from 2.2ghz to 2.8ghz

I say first try ocing it to 2.2 with the stock cooler, and see what temps you get. OCing it to 2.2 won't be dangerous at all with your stock cooler. If, after testing it out, temps are too high for your liking, get the xp-90.

Go ahead and get two 512 sticks. :) other than that it looks fine to me. I just built a Athlon 64 3000+ about a month ago. see sig.

I agree, 2.2 should be easy on the stock cooler. If you want to take it on up to 2.5 or beyond then get the XP-90. Cooler temps are always a good thing:)
