New Counterstrike Server

hey guys, now that i've got Win2k and CStrike installed again, i just setup my new dedicated server. i'd like to see what kind of pings you guys get, LMK

Maplist is as follows:

Server is running Win2k on a 1.1ghz Tbird, 256mb Mosel Vitalic, and dual 45gb 75gxp's in a RAID 0 config. The connection is off the university T3 . not sure if i've gotten the UDMA working too well w/ the mobo and win2k, but this should be fine. if this works out i'll keep it up indefinitely. if anyone can tell me if/how i can add it as a Service so it works in the background from booting that'd be great too

How about adding a PW for AT users only? Just a suggestion...

and you can just put a shortcut to hlds.exe in the startup folder in Win2k, that'll make it run on startup. I know there's a way to make it a service but I don't know what it is :Q

Right now gamespy is pinging it at over 200, which is pretty bad, but part of that is probably because I'm pulling about 250kB/sec of the NNTP server.

I'm pinging 125..which is OK. I'm used to playing in 20-50 range though..
As koni said, making it private with a password would be good idea..

zeroburn, u are the man. I'll be joining the server shortly. Also, can you get rid of some of the maps. cs_estate and de_vegas are bad maps.....no one plays them much. This server will be better than Neo's He always gets too many kills since it lagg's bad

i've noticed the connection today was a little weak, i was actually wondering if that was going to effect the lag time.

i'm going to keep it open for now, just to test how well it does, if need be i'll switch to to a pw-only server for AT people, but i don't want to put Neo out of business =)

this server it up in North California right now, my friend from the south in the bay area got a straight 34 ping last night. seems like most of your scores are hurtin' though, i don't like to play any higher then 100 ping myself so i know what you mean, hopefully it'll get better soon (especially tonight where i'll get most of the bandwidth myself.)

i'm going to leave it up until tonite and hopefully the times will go down.

i already have it in startup, but i'd rather have it run in the background rather then just sitting on my desktop.

seems from the reports on the server most people are scoring roughly 200, which is pretty much crap IMO. it'd help me a lot of you scoped out what ping times you get around late night, hopefully it'll be much lower. might have to make a night/weekend server only

damn, too laggy buddy. I am in Davis, which is North Calif also and i have 140 ping. Too laggy IMO. You're the man nonetheless. DUST_ONLY please...hehe...

davis is damn near here, you should be getting MUCH higher pings.

From our crappy frame relay connection at work in so. cal. i'm getting around 130-140 ping. It should be muy bueno on the dsl at home. It can't be any worse than neo's on the other side of the continent!!

zero, the server is pretty good and all, i get like ranging around 80~150 ping, but adding in a little bit time in the beginning of each round would be nice.. heh

I am getting pings in the mid 300s here in central IN. Not too great. My connection (dual T3s from courtsey university ethernet, but most of the time it is limited to only one and right now it is about 90% saturated. It goes up to 98%. Maybe they finally figured out how to balance the loads of the 2.

No way, the majority of people would not play if it was dust only. Dust is way too overplayed, not to mention that some of the indy maps are much better anyway. Please don't make it dust only.

Man, if only I could be that lucky. I ping around 300 on a T3 with maybe 10 people in. Three cheers for AOL and a winmodem!
