This is ticking me off, I join a game it runs fine for five seconds then my ping crawls up to 500, then I get disconnected, and my internet dies.

I have DONE NOTHING, except download the new patch, everything else is fine.

Do they test these patches? I'm ticked off right now.

Try right clicking the icon on your desktop. Click properties, and in the "Target" box, add at the end

-dxlevel 80

That helped my laggy video. Lot of other stuff is messed up, though.

Sooo why did Valve do this? Did they do this so people will buy DOD? then fix it later? I honestly don't see what the hell this has to happen.

Ya, they broke it on purpose. This happens all the time with developers, they break something trying to fix or add something else. Luckily, this is Valve and not EA, so if there are legitimate problems, I'd expect a fix in a matter of days, not weeks.

Yep, it's bugged pretty bad. It'll get patched soon I'm sure, play another game in the meantime :p.

Are you sure it isn't Comcast (if you're on it). I have that problem, except that it happens to me in every game I play.

I'm on Comcast, and I've had this problem for the last week and a half. They have been out twice, and both times told me I had a 'return frequency' issue (@ the node)...so far no fix...

welp, they patched it again, I tried it and I lagged out again.

Welcome to the world of Valve. Only DICE can hold a candle to their patch for the patch skillz.

Ran much better for me yesterday, not as good as CS:S but 30-60 fps which is good enough for me. I noticed they patched it and DX8 cards were being set to DX9 graphics, which would explain a buddies unplayable performance on his GF4 Ti 4200 (clearly not a fast card, but more than adequate for Source engine).

odd, works for me. the game is oddly much faster at switching out back to windows for multitasking though
