New Copyright Bill, unconstitutional?!?!?

This new bill states that any device capable of "storing, retrieving, processing, performing, transmitting, receiving or copying information in digital form" must have embedded technology in the microchip and the software to enforce copywright laws.

How does this affect opensource? Is the govt. going to MANDTE how I use my own technolgy?!

I do not like the looks of this.

Meh, welcome to America, the land of corruption. It doesn't matter, the government already knows about everything you've done that's naughty, good ol' Echelon.

It won't pass... And if it does, it will get quickly challenged and declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

Also, according to Wired's interpretation of the bill, a copy machine is illegal.

Never thought of a copy machine.
That can bring up many complications.

The damn government has to get its grubby little hands in on everything it possibly can. Makes me sick.

>I do not like the looks of this.<

I woudn't worry about it, its too far-reaching into first amendment territory. The legislature is constantly proposing laws that are blatantly unconstitutional. Thank goodness only a fraction of the proposed laws get passed, and that is still far too many. We need to go back to the time when the legislature was only in session a couple months out of the year.

Someone once said, "Your civil liberties and constitutional rights are in jeopardy whenever Congress is in session."

Hmmm, sounds just like requiring trigger locks for handguns, now doesn't it?
