Well guys, after a lot of research and time invested in reading, I've finally ordered up all the parts I need at Newegg. Going to build it this weekend.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm selling my father my current rig in signature, and making the plunge to Conroe. Pretty excited, so don't dump on the rookie for his enthusiasm. ;)

Here's what I got:

CPU

RAM

HDD

Case

Mobo

PSU

Floppy

CL

That's basically the nuts and bolts of it. I'm keeping my 1900XT and X-Fi Extreme Music cards, and putting them in the new machine. Does everything look pretty good? Any changes that you personally would make? I feel pretty good about it, and hope that things go along swimmingly. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated, and most welcome. Some after-market cooling solutions as suggestions would be great.

Thanks guys!

**p.s.** - Forgot to add I'm also taking one of my optical drives from the old one.

Looks great. I wouldn't get a Raptor myself, but if money isn't an object then it's a very fine drive.

IMO, Very Good choices for components, but though I like your choices for RAM, don't you think the RAM manufacturers are gouging on prices.
I got my 2GB OCZ Gold in Jan for less than $200. Newegg taking $40 off makes it palatable, but $600 for 4GB is still too high if one was to go that route to use Vista.

Yeah, couldn't agree more with you, pkme2. Their definitely blatantly, gouging these prices through the roof. I'm sort of in a rock and a hard place, and needed to put this together sooner rather than later (my father really needs a machine yesterday).

I could have shopped around some, but I wanted to order everything pretty much from one place as opposed to different online companies. I've noticed that the G. Skill I've ordered has continually gone up in price, and I've orderpaid. That being said, I'll just be happy if things go smoothly and this rig performs great - that's really what matters most to me at this point. Decided to bite the bullet and swim amongst the sharks, for better or worse.

Thanks guys! :)

Everything looks good except for the case. Getting nice components and slapping them in a cheaper case doesn't make sense. Cases are an overlooke component, IMHO. LianLi or Silverstone is the way to go.

I don't know. The case has gotten pretty good reviews, and I've seen people around here mention it. Seems like it has nice functionality for the price, but that's just me. I'll see how it is.

You've never heard of Seasonic???? They are one of the best, and far superior to Antec..
