How about you ask a specific question, and then we'll be able to help you from there.

Explain to the nice people what you have first

CPU speed
Memory
Hard Drive
Vid Card
OS
Monitor
Speakers, Soundcard (if you're looking at sound)

And most importantly, what you want to do with your system. (play games, surf internet, develop Quake 4, etc.)

P4 1.5 ghz Proc
Not sure what Mobo
Geforce 3 When it comes out
raid 0 with 4 75 gig IBM drives
Plex 16x CDRW
16X DVD Drive
3 Sticks of 512 PC133 SDRAM

That will cost you about 2000$ heh, and it doesn't even come with everything you will need.

Right now, I'd go with this:

Asus A7M266 Motherboard
AMD 1200mhz T-Bird (or 1300 that just came out)
256MB of PC2100 DDR ram (crucial.com)
IBM 75GXP 60Gig hard drive
Pioneer or Toshiba 16X DVD
Plextor 12/10/32 or 16/10/32 burner(if you want one)
nVidia geforce2 Pro (or Ultra if you have the $$$, but geforce3 is too much $$$)
Samsung 900NF 19" monitor (or 1200 NF for a 21")
Creative Labs Sounblaster Live! Value rev.2
Cambridge soundworks dtt-2500
Antec sx830 with 300Watt PSupply
Microsoft Intellimouse Optical and Natural keyboard.
Modem or network card (depends on what you need)
And let's not forget, the little floppy drive.

yeah that last comp. is a *LITTLE* bit excessive :)

you could do a 1.2 gig thunderbird @266fsb
on either a kt-133a board and sdram OR a ddram board (choose one and we can help you pick)

then if you want to spend $500 for the video card sure get the geforce3 if not and you want to spend $300 get a geforce2 ultra... if you want to spend 100 get a geforce2 mx or a radeon le.

sound card- philips, creative, acoustic many different cards all are good some are better and more expensive though

you see what I mean we need a few more details. If you need help PM me or email me I will be more than glad to help you come up with some details or walk you through the beginning :)

Well, right now the only thing I think that would be going into my old computer is a 12/10 rewrite cd drive. I think that I could spend around 1600 but I dont know. 2000 is a lot to spend on a computer that I will not be on all the time.

P.S. on aother note. Im going to get sumbs and amps in my car and sugestions on that one
