Really? The eVGA is priced higher and comes with a basic factory overclock. I'm sure I could OC the Leadtek just as well. :)

Just get a 3800+ and overclock it. I would suggest the Epox NF4 board. Just a eVGA 7800GT and a Fortron AX500-A PSU.

Well I'm going to be OC'ing the 4200+ as well, hopefully to around 2.6GHz. The 3800+ can't go that high, to my knowledge. Also, I was considering the 7800GT, especially since the monitor's native resolution is only 1280x1024, but I decided to go to the top since I want to be able to keep this system for a good amount of time. As far as the mobo, I prefer MSI, and this one comes with a hardware audio solution. I think the SP-500 should suit my needs fine, and it has more amps on the 12V+ rail than the Bluestorm.

if you are overclocking, maybe add a cnps7700 from zalman or xp-120 for increases cooling. i would also go for a benQ burner instead fo the 3540, unless you can find an ol 3500 or 3520 anywhere.

I've been burning about 3-4 dvds a day with my 3540 since the day I bought it a month ago and it runs great. A lot of modified firmware is available too.

It might not have been in these forums, but a guy pushed his 3800 to 2.95, and plenty of people added to the post with stable and high overclocks on the 3800. It's a bit like the 3000/3200 venice situation. If your only overclocking your processor you don't need that ram, although even two gigs of value comes in around 160-170. Msi has a 7800gtx lite for 479. Not sure if your hdd is sata or not, but there's a fry's/outpost promo [till the 25th I believe...check the forum] for an ide seagate 200gig for 49.99 AR. As for the second dvd-rom, ripping a dvd9 to the computer with that 3540 and modified firmware, 1.w5, took 10 minutes, so if your looking to save some money there's one way.

that looks mighty good for round $2200 I think.

Though X2 3800+ or X2 4400+ seem to be the sweet spots? I heard the X2 4400+ can go to the 4800s specs, not sure how far the 4200 OCs too, but the x2 4400+ is $100 more. The eVGA I think is better caues of the warranty and AT has OC'd it pretty good.

Don't buy the 4200+. The 3800+ will overclock just as well. Just like how a 3000+ will overclock just as well as a 3500+. Also the 7800GTX is simply not worth it, get the 7800GT. Even a 7800GT is overkill for the resolution you are using though. I don't know much about the MSI, but I would still take the Epox into consideration. Read some reviews and stuff. As for the PSU the Fortron AX500-A is a much better PSU. Specs mean very little. I guarantee that Fortron is a more capable PSU then the Antec. Antec does not rate its PSU's as conservatively as Fortron.

You're right. Now, onto the next question:

eVGA, Leadtek, or other? I'm looking for the best value+performance. I don't care much for the warranty, since I've only had to use the warranty for 1 product that I ever owned, and it was a faulty toaster oven. :p

And Drew, are you saying that FSP Group is the better brand, or the Bluestorm is the better PSU? I've also looked at the Truepower 2.0 line by Antec, and 3% voltage regulation is a nice feature. Not to mention that the TPII has 36A combined vs. the Fortron's 30A combined. And it's on sale for $80 at Newegg with free shipping. :)

@keeleysam : The 2005FPW...I wish I could. It's currently sitting at a cool $525, which is WAY out of my league. The VP171 is a stretch as it is. If I downgrade to the Tt Tsunami and Dell has a Christmas special or something, I might consider it.

I would say eVGA for thr 77800GT. You can get it with BF2 also. As for the PSU I am saying both. The TPII lacks functional ventilation. If your case poses any backpressure to the fan it will not draw any air. This is due to the fact that there is a gap between the lid and the mounting surface. Also the fan choice is very poor.
