New computer won't turn on.

I've been helping my friend put together his new computer and now that we have the motherboard in the case it won't turn on. About a week ago i posted for help with the motherboard (an epox 8k7a) that was diagnosed as bad (it couldn't recognize the secondary IDE devices) and sent back to newegg. He just received the new motherboard in the mail, and now that its on the case and the power cables are hooked up, it won't turn on, nothing will, not even any fans. Now when we were originaly putting the computer together a week ago, sometimes the case acted finicky and wouldn't turn on, so we'd have to let it sit for awhile until it would turn on, now it wont turn on and its been 2 days. However, we tried hooking up a power supply from a dell computer to the new computer and it would not turn on either. It may have something to do with the wire coming from the front of the computer on the power button that hooks into the motherboard, but we're really at a loss and he only has a few more days to return the case to newegg if it needs to be replaced, what should we do?

This is painful and you have to be really careful

lay out some cardboard that will fit all your components.
Remove MoBo and PowSup and place on cardboard.
Stretch Case Switch Leads to MoBo and try to turn it on.

This tests to see if the case is touching the MoBo anywhere and shorting it, it's happened to me so that I had to place a sheet of cardboard between the back of my MoBo and the case to prevent it touching.

Right, If you want to sort it out yourselves (adds satisfaction to a job well done 😀) =

Check all the power wiring, and any wiring associated with the power system. If you can find a problem, fix it if you can.

The other option (and the option that would be easiest) is to return the case to NewEgg as you mentioned.

Good Luck.

Edit: ah yes, DJHeater has a good idea, check it out.

I don't know if this applies to your motherboard but on mine(kt7-raid) the cmos reset jumper cant be in the "reset" position if you want to turn on the computer. I coulnd't get it to work until i put it in the normal spot. then it worked fine. hope this helps,

oh, my motherboard came with the jumper in the reset position for some reason
