new computer setting up internet

I'm having trouble setting up internet on my new computer,
i have a 3com cable modem
optimum online
ethernet cable from modem to computer

for some reason i cannot connect to internet

can someone help me? leave me some steps on how to set up new connection 🙁

Cable connections authenticate on the MAC address of the computer. If you changed computers, the MAC of the network card changed. You'll need to register the new MAC address with your cable ISP for it to work. The easiest way is to use the software setup cd that came with your cable connection, if you don't have that you'll need to call your ISP.

P.S. You are much better of spending few minutes reading the manul and learning how to configure the Router manaully.

Try this:
Unplug cable modem power. Wait 5 minutes. Plug power back in.
