Hey I am almost complete building my first computer and was wondering, when I plug the monitor into my graphics card and turn this puppy on, what is going to come up on the screen with no O/S? will it go straight to bios or just be a black screen till I boot it from a disk or CD and start installing the O/S?

The BIOS is always what loads first even though it is set to hidden on some name-brand computers. The BIOS is where the code lives that detects your drives and it is what loads and runs the code on the "boot sector" of your drive.

So you should see a video card info screen, then a BIOS screen that will tell you that no bootable drives were detected. Once a drive is attached you will see that screen but then it will load the DOS from your floppy or CD.

ok well as I FIGURED!! The beast wouldn't do what I want...ok I turn it on...*unlike a long time ago* it turned on, all the fans were roaring and the DVD-rom will open and close...not sure if it is recognizing the Floppy but that could be fixed...but a big problem...you know when you turn on your computer and your supposted to hear a beeb or *POST*...well I don't hear a beeb just the roaring fans going, and nothing on the monitor..its just as empty as my brain is feeling right bout now cause I dont' kown what the hell went wrong...could be the motherboard..maybe I messed up the processor installing the Ohh so scary Volcano 11+ Xaser..and a few other little things but the whole Bios not poping up and not hearing the BEEB's that your supposted to hear when you boot your computer is what terrifies me...

Make sure that if it is a P4, that you plug in the little 12 volt power connecter located near the cpu. It absolutley will not boot w/o that
