New computer problems

Here's my specs:

msi kt3 ultra aru
xp1800
WD 80gig
geforce ti4200
mushkin pc2100

Once i turn on the computer, it will boot for like 10 seconds and will shut off. I have already pulled out all the other pci cards that i don't need and i am running on bare minimum parts. anyone know what the problem is? thanks in advance

You didn't metion your Power supply that might be the problem. Try changing it with another one. Alos check if it is set to 115v

Check the screws holding in the mobo and make sure they are not shorting out on the mobo traces. Be sure your floppy cable isn't upside down. Check your hsf for proper seating and make sure you are using thermal paste. Boot into bios and check temps.

I recently installed a P4 w/stock hsf and am not using thermal anything...yet at max load it gets to 50C (taken from on die chip)...is that good, or should I add the paste anyway?
