Here's my system:
A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard, BIOS version 1103
2 Gigs of Corsair twinX2048-3200PT RAM
550W ThermalTake power
ASUS DVD-ROM
XFX 7900 GT 256 video
Zalman CPU Fan
WD Caviar SE16 250 Gig 7200 SATA 3Gig hard drive (no RAID)
Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo
I am using the defualt BIOS settings.
Here's what happens. Everything boots fine. (The BIOS recognizes the HD as UDMA6. Is that normal?) I boot to the Windows XP Home SP2 CDROM and proceed witht the setup. I do not install SATA drivers. I first select NTFS when formatting the HD. It hangs at 0%. I go back into the setup and select NTFS (Quick), which works. After the installation is finished, I install the drivers from the ASUS MB CDROM. I let it install everything (sound, network, etc). On the first reboot when installing the drivers, I get the CHKDSK screen. It finds a corrupt section, and then deletes an orphan file, but continues on it's way. It install the second set of MB drivers, reboots, and I get the same CHKDSK screen and message. When it finally boots, I download the Nvidia drivers for my card. When I run the setup for the video drivers, I get a CRC error.
I then start all over. Going through the same steps as above, but this time there are no errors (CHKDSK or otherwise). I get all the drivers loaded, evrything looks good. I reboot one more time. I get a DOS screen that says:
"Missing or corrupt
<Windows Root>\system\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Please reinstall a copy of this file above"
Any ideas? My first question what should the BIOS be seeing my drive as. UDMA6?
Thanks in advance folks.
