This is my first time building a computer and Im having problems. I took my time and tried to hook everything up right, but according to the manual when it first boots I should hear a beep, which I dont. Also, nothing is displayed on my monitor other then "no sync input" which is the same message I get when I dont even have it plugged into the computer. Everything turns on, I think, the cpu and mobo get warm, the cd drives and floppy turn on, and the HDD makes some usual starting noises. The green light by the PCI slots is on, and the AGP light is off. What do you think the problem is?

Thanks

Here are my specs:

a7n8x delux
AMD 3000+
mushkin 512 black series II 3200
powercolor 9800 pro
maxtor 80 gig
audigy
enermax 450 watt p/s
pioneer dvd
liteon cdr

First check the small speaker wire connected to the motherboard. Make double sure that is plugged in correctly and not reversed, or slotted incorrectly in one direction or another.

Also, pull every thing out except motherboard, CPU, 1 - RAM stick and video card. Disconnect HDD, ROM's etc. At least for future reference help narrow down a problem.

Try clearing the CMOS and boot it up to see if that helps any. Unplug the power cord, take out battery, and jumper for 15 minutes or so to make sure the CMOS gets cleared. Put everything back in it's place, cord, battery and jumper. Try to boot.

Also check your jumpers, I had someone bring a system to me the other day having the same problems.

He just had his jumpers set wrong on his motherboard. I corrected it and everything worked fine afterwards.

I took out all the extra stuff, still nothing, I took out the battery, p/s, and jumper, still nothing. I tried reversing the speaker, still nothing. I read through th manual again, and it seems like the jumpers are correct, I just left them in the default position.

After some more test, i swapped out the ram and vid card w/ my current computer and both of them work fine.

You could try clearing your cmos, reset the BIOS. The manual should tell you how to do it. You move a jumper to the clear position, with the power off, and then move it back. This resets the BIOS back to fail safe defaults, the way it came from the factory. Removing the battery for 5 or 10 minutes will do the same thing. This should let it set up again and detect your hardware, processor, ram, vid card etc. Sometimes it gets messed up and your PC won't boot. I changed my ram timings and my PC wouldn't post. Reset the BIOS and i was back in business.

Ive tried everything mentioned, and still nothing. Is there a way to test and see if the mobo is bad?
