New computer - part suggestions

I just built my first computer, and, except for some very minor issues I'm sorting out, it's awesome. The problem came when my fiancee (who lives with me), noticed the great computer and has been on it ever since. When I come home from work, she's surfing the web and checking her email.

She doesn't need this much machine for what she does (word processing, internet, emails, etc.), so I'm planning on building her her own computer (and in turn, freeing my own).

Question - what parts would you guys recommend? It needs to be cheap, probably "cute", but good enough to keep her off of mine (I hope she never reads this). Any suggestions??

Thanks~ 😀

Budget = as low as possible with an acceptable machine.

She's my fiancee... we're trying to pay for a wedding, and the idea of spending money on more computer parts (I just built mine with my work bonus) does not settle very well with her.

I think a $500 - $800 machine would be well worth it. I'm worried about software costs though (she'll want Windows & Office), and she'll want probably a 17" flat screen monitor...

I'm really not trying to put requirements on this thread though - you guys are pretty creative; I'm just curious as to what type of machine(s) you come up with

damn, nice rig in your sig.

yeah you could definately build one that works for cheap. i think you could even keep it under 500.

if it was me, i would just buy the cheapest branded parts off pricewatch.com, and buy out of state, no tax. then i would ghost the current hard drive and put it in the new system since it already has windows and office i assume. cheap solutions.

get her a sff. shuttle pc. get amd or intel either one. a combo drive a cheap vid card. doesnt need a big hard drive and your all set. i bet she would love it. there small and "cute".
