New Computer...how does my parts list look?

Hey everyone! I got in on the Intel Retail Edge deal and my stuff is finally here...

Anyways, I already have an Antec case that I'm going to use and the 3.4GHz P4 S775 and Intel D915PBLL mainboard...

I was wondering how this list of goods looks to acompany my new hardware?

I hope the list works for everyone. The two Seagates will be in RAID0...and I think the Plextor should work fine on the SATA ports, but maybe I'm mistaken. Anyone familiar with SATA optical drives?

How does the RAM look? I normally go Crucial, but I see Crucial's RAM is also CAS4 stuff, so what the heck. 😛 I'm not an overclocker, so it doesn't bother me.

Input is welcome!

Nothing wrong that I can see. I wish I could have gotten my Retail Edge package, but xmas left me broke 🙂 as far as i can recall the plextor drive will work fine on that board aslong as its not hooked up to one of the ports that is used in raid mode. I remember it being a problem with via's sata controller on amd xp boards and that it was only compatible with the ich5 of the 865/875 chipsets

Hm, perhaps I should check into the manual regarding RAID...I hope it doesn't have to enable RAID across ALL 4 SATA connectors...like I can just pick ports 1 and 2 for RAID0 and the others be regular SATA single-drive.

Is the video card OK? I didn't want to break my wallet, but if there's something like 2x better for $300-ish, I'd opt for it! 🙂

Ditch the Plextor burner and get the NEC ND-3500A or 3520A. It will save you 30 - 40 bucks and you will get a better drive. Plextor's DVD burners aren't the Best in Breed that they once were. The NEC drive is a great drive that I highly recommend.

Also just an FYI, I don't think that board supports NCQ so you will not see much of a difference between this drive and any other SATA drive.

Ah really? The board has to support that NCQ thing? Shoot, I was thinking it was a drive feature/addition.

Thanks for the $ saving tip! I'll definitely check out the NEC drive before I order!
