I finally got this new comp up and running but Im still having some small problems.

Comp specs:

Abit IP35-E
8800GT
Intel E4500
2gb Corsair XMS DDR2-800
Antec True Power Trio 650W

First problem is with the on board sound card. It is enabled in the BIOS, but Windows is not seeing it. The BIOS has two settings for it, HD audio and AC-97. I have tried both and it still doesnt work. Tried installing the drivers anyways and that didnt do anything.

Second problem is with the CD/DVD drives. The computer has a CD burner and a DVD burner plugged in via IDE. The computer can see the drives and if I put in the CD/DVD, right click on the drive and click "open" I can view the files on the disk. But, when the disk tries to auto run the following two error messages keep repeating over and over:

"description: error occured in write port val!, errcode:6"

"description: error occured in read port val!, errcode:6"

Never seen this before, any ideas?

Hmm, that is definately an odd problem, first and foremost I would recommend a bios update. Also make sure that there are no hardware jumpers to disable the audio because it should at LEAST be detected by windows. I would lean towards faulty board if a bios update doesnt resolve the issue

Forgot to add, BIOS is running the latest version. I already checked for a jumper somewhere on the board and there isnt one.

Well, it seems that you have done your homework then, i would assume a bad board or cpu, but more likely the board

Check out this thread here for sound issue.
As for you cd burner and dvd, try downloading chipset drivers, maybe you have already, or how about disconnecting one of the drives and see if you have any problems with just one device.
