new computer freezing on windows 7! Help~

I recently made a new computer and downloaded windows 7 into it but it would keep freezing up. at first it was within an hour of it being turned on then it just got worse to freezing at startup. I read somewhere that it was a BIOS problem and changed the settings there. This was a month ago and its freezing up again now. My specs are :

GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD3P-B3 LGA
Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W
Intel Core i7-2600 Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost)
Patriot Viper Xtreme Series, Division 2 Edition 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD w/Display-Port (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5

If anyone can give me some tips on what to do to fix it, that would be great.
FYI I tested out the components on another computer and all worked fine on it so I dont think its a hardware problem.
 
Hi Do you get a BSOD with that.(Blue screen of death)What kind of HDD do you have.when it freeze like this most of the time it's HDD failure.
 
no BSOD. currently using seagate 7200.12 1TB 3.0gbs.
when it freezes, the light on the mouse shuts off too. My computer is already set to not go into sleep mode also.
 
when it freezes is the system hot?

i would say the four major things that can cause freezes are:

1. heat
2. bad memory or memory controller on mb
3. power
4. Drivers ( most noticeable when you replace an old component with a new one and the old drivers are lingering)
 
I dont think it would be heat as I leave the AC on when it gets warmer than usual and I already checked the memory which seems to be fine. Is there anyway to check if it is a power or driver problem? The drivers are already up to date
 
What are you using for a CPU cooler?

That's the first thing that comes to mind for me...overheating CPU.

Next would be RAM, either bad RAM, or incompatible RAM.

Also, a bad ground could cause this. Maybe a stand-off in the wrong place.
 
The temp is around 39 - 43c when it locks up. Using the fan that came with the cpu as the Zalman 120mm was kinda loud for me.
