Still need answers on the memory listed above. I took the board out of the case and tried to install windows with everything enabled in the BIOS. The first time, it froze at 100% of files transferred, the second time, it gave me a blue screen at 100% os files transferred. I'm gonna try it again and again with different BIOS settings on the precharge, the caching/shadowing and the integrated peripherals, but I desperately need an answer on my samsung memory because I need to know whether or not to return for a refund and order corsair/crucial memory. bump

Here's what I bought to go into my last two builds and it has no issues.

Corsair Value Select (CAS 2.5)

Here is a link to a nforce specific forum. You can find many answers there.
http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/

The Nvidia link you pointed to is listing "compatible" modules.
Manufacturers make ram sticks with different chips, that's why, for example, my Kingston HyperX is compatible and some other chips might not be.

There are Samsung modules listed there. You should check the numbers against what you have.

ok, thanks. I just disabled the precharge write and was able to finally get a stable windows install on the board outside of the case. I guess the next step is to start installing stuff and to see if it has any problems, then put it back in the case and see if it continues to work well.

That's really cheap ram...I paid 115 for mine, and had to rma it at least twice (it's sad, but I've actually lost count)...

ok....I checked that forum, but I can't find a readily available list of compatible ram. It's kinda hard to navigate. I did a search for my samsung ram, but no matter what keywords I put in the search, i get back 2407 matches, and they're always the same. Can you give me a link to the list you were referring to?

well, like I said I got windows on the computer, but it's crashed almost everytime i've logged on, and it's frozen a few times too. Is this something that memory could cause?

ok, after about 15 - 30 restarts, I've given up. Is this a memory problem? If so, I need to order the corsair ram immediately. Windows kept telling me that the restarts were caused by some file in norton antivirus 2003, but i've used that program for years without a problem.

still need an answer on my memory ASAP. I'm runnin memtest right now, but even if it passes that just tells me that the memory's good, not if it's compatible. bump

Dude! You provided the link yourself that has a compatability list of RAM modules!
Are yours listed? Read the numbers off your chips and check the nvidia link.

If they are not listed I would guess that your ram is the problem, as has been said over and over in this thread.
If you want a second opinion you should e-mail nvidia.

I mentioned ten posts ago that the chips were not listed on that site, but I don't think that list has EVERY compatible module on it....I just want to make sure that these windows-based errors are being caused by the ram before I buy yet another stick

Also, corsair and crucial aren't even listed on the compatible website, but everyone seems to think they're fine.

Yes!

So i installed my new Antec TruePower 380 PSU and the Corsair Value Select last night. I was installing windows programs all night and did not experience bsod's, freezes or restarts.
I installed the ram sticks on dimm 1 and 3 (running dual channel) .... in bios i set up the memory with 8-3-3-2.5 ... and everything works perfect.

What i cannot say is if this is a complete memory issue, remember i switched the PSU also.

But as far as compatibilty goes ... Corsair is definitly compatible :)

just got a blue screen on file transferring at 76% caused by ntfs.sys. driver_irql_not_less_or_equal. Gonna try without precharge write enabled. So far, it's no different than any other memory. And the mobo's still on the carboard box outside the case

This crucial memory's no better than any other stick I've tried, and now I'm out an additional 80 dollars....what do I try now?

Well, for those of you who have been keeping up with this thread, you know i've rma'd the mobo, the memory 3 times and even bought crucial, and the hdd, bought an enermax ps, and have tried pretty much every bios setting I can. where do I go from here?

The only parts left in the system that I haven't RMA'd are the cpu, the cd-rom, and the floppy. If it's not the memory, I have no idea what it is...

install on that hd(most likely a refurb as you got it from justdeals) a Linux distro and if it doesn't error out/bsod/whatever ..I'd suggest you get a brand new XP CD(if that's the OS needed) and possibly a different reader of said CD..gl

I've got another winxp cd that I use for my computer, so I'll try that one and see what happens

backup hdd didn't work either. My last step is to remove a cd drive from my computer to try on this one's hardware. After that, I have literally no more options.
