So I just finished putting my computer together:

gigabyte 965p-ds3 rev3.3
e6420
antec truepower II 550W
2 barracuda 7200.10 320GB [sata]
g.skill 2gb ddr2 800 [ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231065 ]

8800gts foxconn 320MB

so i have everything wired correctly i'm assuming the LED's turn on all the fans spin including the one on the graphics card. i'm not 100% sure if the harddrives are turning on or not i'll have to hook the computer up again and check..and also i only hooked up my dvd-rom[ide]. so everything turns on but my monitor light stays orange. also when i try to open my dvd-rom it won't open. i'm hoping it's not the motherboard..took me forever to get this put together..to have to take it all apart to RMA the motherboard i'm gona be pissed. any suggestions on what i should check before i take it to compusa or somewhere to have someone look at it for me just so i'm sure?

edit:

so the 3 things i tried so far was booting without the ram but the video card in..no beeping
ram out video card out..no beep
video card out ram in..no beep

also i unplugged my dvd-rom and plugged in my dvd-rw and the green light turned on on the dvd-rw but it still won't open..not sure if the computer has to boot a little farther until it will open or not..but thought id point it out incase it could help with my diagnosis

also how can i tell for sure if the harddrives are working?

heh well im an idiot..noob mistake i guess..thats what i get for not reading the instructions all the way through..i figured i knew enough from research and by looking at my old computer which is like 6 years old and comparing and copying..i missed the atx_12v connection.....all that frustration thinking something was doa and it was a simple mistake of overlooking a plug..thanks anyway anandtech =D
