New Computer build- Suggestions

Hi,

I am building a PC for about $1500 and here is what I am looking at getting within a few days. I may or may not OC the processor, but am looking for something ultra realiable for my business. What do you guys think:

(1) Antec P180 Case

(2) Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 300 MB/s Hard Drive

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card

I wouldn't recommend get that setup for your reasons using this computer.

I think this rig is more suitable for professionals (business users).

What is the main difference besides a lower speed processor and the value ram?



 
Why do you need highest speed processor and ram for rig that you use for business?

I think this rig is "ultra reliable" use for business.
 
i'd also go with the 3800 and the valueram. you wont notice a difference in web browsing, apps, or even most mulithreaded apps or multitasking. 200mhz isn't that much of a difference, save your money for bettwe quiet parts, or more hard drive storage or a better monitor
 
Drop the X-Fi, biggest waste of money ever.

I would change the case to something in the Lian Li line, like the V1100.

Damn, an X2 for business apps?
I would just recommend an Opteron class CPU over an X2 if you're not gaming, I believe it's a waste of money.
You don't need XMS sticks for business apps, that's just ridiculous unless you want to go that hardcore, no one is going to stop you. You can kill your starvation for low latency with Crucial 2-2-2-6 sticks and hit up 2-2-2-5 on a good motherboard and OC'd to your liking.

Don't go DDR2, it's a rip off for AMD systems, in my opinion.

Western Digital is awesome, but I'd rather get a Seagate drive with NCQ. Quieter and faster.

Integrated video will steal resources from the CPU, get a cheap PCI-e card if you don't already own a vid card of your own.

For OS, XP Pro is the way to go~

edit: noise killer: go with more efficient parts and spend the extra money on quiter parts that move more air

this looks good. as has been previously stated, you won't notice the improvement from 2.0 to 2.2 GHz. as for the ram, patriot has some CAS 2 ram for like $130 (after rebates). if you don't mind rebates, i'd get that. if you do mind rebates, get value ram.

don't get a sound card. why would you need it for a business?

i would get a 7600GT, but nothing more. anything more is a waste (for you). anything less would prevent you from gaming later on
