Hiya guys~ I'm pretty much fed up with my computer right now... My harddrive's been for some odd reason powering up and down constantly by itself... and yet... i know its not the harddrive problem because i have 7 of them which all of them i have RMA'd like 3 times... i know its not the PSU because i've tried with multiple computers... i know its not the mobo because i've RMA'd that couple of times... i also know its not my RAM becaue i've tried different combos....

So, I figured... although i know its not any of those, might as well try with a new mother board... new cpu... and a new memory and power supply so that i can COMPLETELY get rid of those possibilities.... so... this is what i'm thinking of getting.... but if you guys have better suggestions, please let me know...

CPU: Intel Pentium 4/ 3.0E 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, HP Techology Retail
Memory: Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Sercies 1GB (512MBx2) DDR PC-3200
Mobo: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
Heatsink/Fan: Vantec AeroFlow or Hermaltake P4 Park 7+
PSU: Antec 480 NeoPower

Please tell me what you guys think, and as i said... I would love it if you guys give me suggestions on any of these... thanks guys!

umm...ok....sounds good i guess? not sure what u do with your pc to make suggestion or price limit..

memory sounds a bit too 'extreme' if you will not OC your cpu/fsb

you don't understand... I probably did that at least 10 times.... this problem has been going on for like 6 months or so.... so during that time... i probably did almost anything imaginable...

I really really really don't want to spend my money and replace all these parts..... but... it seems like that really is the ONLY solution that's why i'm doing it.... and because i'm doing it, i just want to make sure i get good parts....

Don't get me wrong tho... my current configuration is really good too.... its just i really really really can't pinpoint the problem...

lol i want to! but.... getting a dell with same amount of performance means that i would have to spend at least $1000 more... since it'll include a graphics card, and others that i don't need.... see this is the only reason why i'm going through all this.... heh

If you want troubleshooting help, post your full specs including your (*drum roll*, no one will see THIS coming) power supply brand & model. Yes I know, you tested and yadda yadda. :D

If you want to build, then you're off to a good start with a good-quality power supply and motherboard brand there. I'm more of an AMD guy and I would get an Athlon64, but you haven't come out and said what you're going to use it for, sometimes that can matter quite a bit as to which is the better choice.
