So we got in a load of new Toshiba tablets. I'm starting on creating an image for these machines so we can deploy them. One of the first things I do when starting an image is go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and see what could be cleaned out from there. So I do that expecting to remove 2 maybe 3 items and instead find this!

Really Toshiba?? Really?? Never before have a I seen a system more loaded with garbage right out of the box. Its going to be a long day.

because you didn't buy the business model that says does not contain bloatware?

I would think that the first thing to do when creating an image is to start fresh with your own load.
You don't get to complain if your going to cheat and crib off the image from the factory.

Eh, when we buy computers we don't even bother removing stuff. Reformat and reinstall the OS. Then install it exactly how we want and image from there.

But then you get to go hunt down all the drivers from the manufacturer web site in order to get the machine running. And some vendors like to hide their F6 drivers.

See Dell asks if you want the driver disc (for a fee) included on your purchase. I assume that other companies offer the same service.

My fujitsu looked almost as bad. But disabling them only took away all the tablet features.

Build your own image, format, and place image on PC. I think that would be a lot easier...

But, yes, PCs today have an unbelieveable amount of junk of them. It is essentially ad space for software companies.

Well if you were worth anything you would load one totally fresh and make an image from that, not use whatever came from factory.

Toshiba has always been the worst about this.

I've had some Acer computers with terrible bloatware.

I've never had Toshiba, and the Acer I got once seemed to have average bloatware. The winner from my personal experience is Lenovo. I've never seen so much extra crap added in my life. Special hatred goes to the WordPerfect trial install that took a weekend to remove. If I knew it was going to be as hard as it was, I'd have just formatted the stupid thing.

Hmm... did it really come with WinVNC running in the background from the factory? If so, that's scary.
