New computer 5870 1 or two

I am in the process of building a new computer. I am currently getting 1 5870. Do you guys recommend getting 2 of them to crossfire or just sticking with the one. I was wondering because newegg has the deal for the 5870 currently.

Hm, hard to say without knowing your gaming needs: types of games you play, resolution, etc. They're $170.00 A/R now. You won't find anything that comes close to a 5870 CrossFire setup for $340.00

I'd get 2, you won't be able to get anything that outperforms 2 of them at that price for a LONG time, you'll have great visuals at a bargain price.

I'd grab 2 myself. The 5870 is still a lightning fast GPU.

1 sure is enough. i'd suggest 2 if you're getting a 120Hz screen. otherwise, with vSynch on, the extra FPS go to waste.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but here's a spinoff question: currently have a single 5870 driving a 3x1920x1080 Eyefinity setup. Definitely chugs on some titles. Any thoughts on whether it would be worth it to add another 5870 as a holdover until the next gen, or am I going to be seriously hamstrung by only 1GB memory at Eyefinity resolutions?

I just got a i5 sand bridge, 2500k with a msi 67 board. Ya I am toward getting two. I am a gamer, and want to have everything run at 1080p, 1900x1080. I think it will work out. I got a 650 box as well to make sure it runs as well. Thanks. Do I need anything else to run them at crossfire or just those two cards. I never ran two cards at crossfire. Thanks.

Yeah, 1 gb of memory isn't enough for 1920x1080 surround, you need at least 2 for the more demanding games. You should definitely notice a good bit of improvement though, but nothing worth $170 though.
