OCing, driving an LCD, maybe light gaming. The gaming part is unlikely. I will be experimenting with benchmarks.

You don't need 1GB of RAM, you can get by with 512MB but building a new system that way would not be a very good idea.

Since you have the CNPS-9500 on there I assume you will be aiming for a low noise system? If thats the case you will either want something other then the x800GTO or you will want to replace the stock HS/F to a Zalman VF-700 or VF-900. If noise is not a concern you might as well use the stock HS/F with the 3800+.

No. I chose the CNPS9500 for aesthetics. 1, it's the coolest looking cooler I've ever seen, and 2, it performs really well.

What they've said, you definately want more memory, though if you're only getting a half gig as a stopgap until prices go down, I don't know that I can really hold that against you.

Not to sound like an Intel fanboi but why AM2? Why not C2D? If you are ocing a C2D will oc much better.
