Hello everyone, got a problem. Just bought some new parts to put together a new comp and I can't get it to boot up. First, here's what I'm running:

CUP: AMD-64 2800+
MOBO: EPoX 8KDA3J nForce3
RAM: 1 Stick Mushkin DDR400
VidCard: Radeon 9550SE 128mb
HDD: 120gb WD
DVD: Pioneer 4x DVD-R
PSU: 420 watt Raidmax

Now the mobo has this LED Post feature where it'll give you a code and supposedly it's supposed to tell you the problem. When I look at the led it says C1. I go to the user's manual and it says:
Detect Memory
- Auto-detection of DRAM size, type and ECC.
- Auto-detection of L2 cache (socket 7 or below).

So am I to assume that the mobo doesn't like the stick of Mushkin I threw in? I've tried connecting and reconnecting everything and I can't get nowhere!!! Oh yah, there is 1 long beep... can't find anywhere online what that means... any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Sounds like it doesn't like the memory. Try booting with no memory, if you get the same beep, it's almost definatly related to the mem.

well I went to epox.com to see if I can get some more info on the post codes, but I couldn't find anything. I d/ld the user manual and their is more info than there is in the manual that came w/the mobo. I guess you are right, I don't think it likes the memory. In the manual it says the error code I have either means mem module was inserted incorrectly (it's not), wrong type (manual says accepts double sided, so not that) or it's damaged (brand new). So I guess I'll have to try either what you suggested or try a different brand... sigh... I'll update my findings later tonight. Thanks for the tip.

I just have the nec burner and WD HD plugged into the ide channels... any suggestions? Maybe the HD is messed up, but I dont think so... thanks in advance.

ok, so I already had some other stuff installed on that HD I was trying to use so I formatted it. plugged everything back together, used a stick of corsair ram AND IT WORKS! It was the ram, for some reason, it didn't like the Mushkin stick I had bought for it... which sux cuz I think there's a 15% restocking fee for returning to newegg... sigh.

thanks for the input though stev.
