new comcast modem

so somehow my old modem died on me and so comcast came out and installed a new one and it works great on one computer but when i try to run it through my negear router it wont work. Any ideas why? Or what i can do to get it to work again.

K.I.S.S.... did you disconnect the router from power, turn the modem on, let it do it's thing and get connected to the server, THEN power on the router?

Ditto what Jeff said. To elaborate: Cable modems "lock" to the first MAC address they see. If you connect the modem to another device then it won't communicate with it until you power-cycle (off - on) the modem. That forces it to "lock" to the new device's MAC address.

Don't just use the power switch on it - unlug the power cord, connect it to the new device, plug the power back in.
