Anyone have info on the 60% color gamut increase announced on the apple laptops?

That could be a big deal for me..

If I'm reading Apple's announcements correctly, the 60% color gamut increase is due to the fact that the 13" MB Pro has moved up to a LED backlit screen. The previous 13" MacBook was still using a CCFL backlight.

The whitebook was using CCFL still. The unibody MB was LED backlit from launch, IIRC. At least, mine definitely is.

I probably can't tell much about color reproduction and the like, but I do love the brightness of the LED backlight and the battery life even when keeping it relatively bright.

Since the new 13" has been branded an MBP, the odds are more likely than not that it shares the better LCD present in the 15" and 17" MBP.

I'd like to see a hard number for the color gamut. Dell has that class-leading RGB LED backlit LCD on their Studio 16 that has almost double the color gamut of most laptops.

If it's just a standard LED backlight, color gamut should be improved, but nowhere near as good as an RGB LED backlight. This is surprising because Apple caters to imaging professionals who would happily pay Apple some overinflated price to upgrade their screen.
