New Cisco wireless controller - 5508

Spidey, have you seen the Xirrus Wifi Arrays?

Saw them at Interop last week and they looked pretty dang slick. Lots of interesting features for picking up rogue devices and the like. I thought they had a lot of promise.

No. But Cisco's stuff is pretty slick in terms of rogues. You can locate them and even do mitigation/counter attacks on the rogues, basically jamming them.

This model is pretty good because it fits between the 100 APs of a 4400 and the 300 APs of a WISM blade for the 6500. It also looks to be a replacement for the 4400 as you can get between 12 and 250 AP via licensing.

Might want to check them out. The idea of an access point with 24 radios and 24 directional antennas feeding an office full of clients is kind of appealing.

Hmm, I will have to take a look at this, I was about to order another 4400.

I haven't asked Cisco if it's supposed to be a replacement for the 4400, but it sure looks like it especially since it has all the different AP licensing counts.

Looks like it's not quite there yet - the only thing I can find on the price list is SmartNet and extra power supply for it - no actual controllers, which is goofy.
