Aight guys,
I have no clue about anything when it comes to DVD drives. Need to know of a cheap, quiet, decent dvd rom drive. I see afreey makes one thats selling for like 29$. If its like everything else out there, then Im guessing the cheapest is the worst =) Well thnx!
 
You might want to try the For Sale/Trade section. They do have a lot of decent items especially if you only want an 8X drive.
 
Go for a Riate DVD drive. They cost like $12, and have a 60-70% failure rate. Oh yah, they just went out of buisness, read their webpage, it is funny as heck.

Never used an afreey.

Name is hard to pronounce, so it is probably not good. 😛
 
the Afreey has slower access times than Pioneer or Toshiba drives, but at that price, you can't really lose. I'd look for a Pioneer 10X or a Toshiba 8X or 12X drive if you want something a little better.
 
MWave has a Hitachi 8X DVD for sale for $39. I got one for my Uncle and it is a great drive. It is without a doubt the most silent drive I have ever heard (or not heard). I also had a Hitachi 6X DVD a while back and it was also a very good drive. You should check it out.

On 1 to 10 scale (1 worst-10best)
Noise
Performance (ne DAE benchs, any skipping, anything like that)
Reliablitiy (any troubles)
