Yeah I suck at games because I skipped over a tutorial that tells you what you're supposed to do when a bunch of circles start moving around on screen.
I was taking down the bosses without barely getting hit, but when it came to the part where you need to grab them, if you didn't watch what you were supposed to do earlier in the game, you won't have a clue. It's not like it said press the Triangle button, it's just some circles moving around after you hit R2.
Honestly it sounds like you are just not hitting the right button quick enough in the situation you described. I did fight the boss @ the end of chapter 2 and I felt you couldn't know what to do unless you died trying first, but it wasn't that bad.
I've gotten to the 1st lord of shadow last night and I've got to say this game is pretty damn good so far. This cam completely out of left field for me. I saw this on the shelf and thought "oh god. another cheezy shit castlevania". My friend brought this over and I noticed that it was developed by Kojima's team. Peeked my interest.
1st off, this game looks pretty damn long and it's already very deep. Tons of combo, upgrades, areas to explore, enemies to fight, etc. The graphics are good, but a little choppy here and there. The camera is NOT perfect and created occasional issues. The graphical style is top notch though. Story, decent-ish, certainly not MGS, it's ok. I actually felt guilty when I had to fight one guy, kill him and take a piece of him.
This game completely and unabashedly rips God of War's entire formula and definitely rips Shadow of the Colossus as well. IMO, this really works for the game, not against, and TBH, I'm surprised more games haven't gone this route. I'm not all the way through yet, but every boss fight has been great and the game is ACTUALLY DIFFICULT. In the age of Activision it's nice to see a game actually challenge me. I am playing this on the 2nd hardest level though. The toughest is still locked.
If you like stuff like God of War, Ninja Gaiden, etc. check this out.
