Alright,
I'm in the process of looking for a new case to house my 1.4GHz AMD cos its running alittle hot at the moment (48 C). Reason I want a new case is I brought a cheap one a year back with the PSU mounted vertically, so at the moment I have about 2mm clearance between the top of my HSF (GlobalWin CAK32) and my PSU.
So basically my question is whats a good case (which I can get in the UK). I really fancy a Coolmaster ATCS 201, would be sweet, not sure if I can justify the money though (unless loads of guys tell me how good they are ;o)
Also might change my PSU, so whats a good and doesn't make much noise ?

And last of all, with fans, is it better to connect then using 4-pin adaptor, or just use the 3-pin and run them from your Mobo ?

Cheers in advance

Hi,

I'm considering getting a new case too.

Take at a look at www.theoverclockingstore.co.uk. I'm thinking of getting the GlobalWin GW-802 Midi Tower, No PSU (cost £47.00, P&P is free), it looks like a good quality, fairly cheap case.

I'm sure the Cooler Master cases are good but £200+ for a case - come on!

If you really want an aluminium case, go to
scan.co.uk and look at their own Scan Alumax Aluminum Case without PSU (costs £186, have to pay delivery though) but it looks a lot better than any of the Cooler Master or Lian Li cases.

Edit: Sorry to answer your other questions, power supplies by Enermax (Scan and theoverclockingstore both sell them) seem to be the ones most recommended around here, don't have one myself though so cannot comment.

Also, the only advantage of mounting fans on the motherboard is you can get the RPM readout of the fan, any fan mounted via the PSU cannot supply this information.

High power (i.e. 120mm fans etc) should not be connected directly to the motherboard, they put too much of a strain on the fan header and could cause damage to the motherboard.

Let me know what you end up getting.

Yeah, yeah. £200 abit steep for a case, but its so shinny :)
Had a quick look on scan, Lian-Li PC-68 looks goos, so does the scan one (but again abit expensive I guess).
Any idea if the front USB ports are compatible with a KT-7A motherboard ? I heard that the coolmaster cases aren't.
Oh yeah and in my abvove message when I say its running abit hot, meant to say 58 C not 48 C :(

To get my PC shiney, I just rubbed sunflower oil ALL over the case. Looks very shiney now and didn't cost me £200 (only kidding, I didn't really do that ;)).

I have no idea about the front USB ports, I would of thought they would all be compatable with each other but from what you say, I guess not.

I noticed that about your temps too, mine runs at 47 under sustained full load and I would certainly not call it hot.

Good luck in your search.
