New case needed

I'm looking for a mid to full tower case, main requirements are a) front door with a latch, b) power button behind the door, and c) no window or side vents. Currently using a P150 with sunbeam rheobus, my kid likes the pretty lights so I'll need to change it. I realize I may need to ditch the rheo with some models with doors.

I want a case my 7-month old won't be able to easily push any front buttons, or shove something in the side. I'm looking at different ways of blocking off the back from his reach while not messing up exhaust.

Focusing mostly on quiet, at least as far as a focused-airflow case vs. something like the Antec 900 or CM 690. For now it'll just house a e6400@3.2ghz, 8800GTS 640, GB 965P-DS3, TRUE, 4x1gb ddr2, 2 optical drives, 3 HDD. PSU - HX620. Any near-term upgrades would probably run about the same temps or cooler than what I have.

I took a look at the P180/P182, it's not a bad case, but the door latch is based on a key. Cosmos isn't bad, but I'd have to fab my own front door latch...the power button is on the top so wouldn't be within reach...yet.

Other suggestions?

Thanks,

-z

I have a P182 and I love it. Quite, & Cool. Your 7 month old will have a hard time moving this baby or pushing any buttons. The door is can not open unless your finger is in the slot on side of the case.

Unless you put the computer inside a safe, there is no case on the planet that will prevent your 'mini me' from destroying your computer. Put it out of reach or in a room that the little one can be kept out of.

Teach your kid to not touch the computer. Discipline FTW.

I agree with Rally. My son learned really fast to stay away from the computer desk. He's 4 now and won't even come close to touching the towers. My 7 month old daughter will soon be crawling and she too will learn to stay away. When there young like that you need to keep a nearly constant eye on them anyway.

Gawd I remember discipline when I was growing up. Now the kids will call it child abuse (which it wasn't, IMHO...even now as I look back).
That's the problem nowadays...parents do too much talking & a lot less "action". Psychology is fine to a point, but there's also a time when the kid needs took "behind the woodshed". ;)

Well, except for the back of the computer, a rackmount case with a locking front door will indeed frustrate the fleet-fingered rugrats. :D Link to case page.

I have one of these currently with another on the way. No kids ATM but trying. But I've done this already in another life...my son is 12. I know all about the attraction that blinking lights and clicking hard drives hold for rugrats.

Solid, locked door FTW.

The Lian-Li 7110 meets your requirements and is also an awesome case. Only downside is that it's about 300 bucks. I have the 7010 and it has amazing cooling, great features, and looks really nice. The 7110 actually have additional noise-centric features beyond those in the 7010 including sound-dampening material lining the insides and a more accessible fan control switch. If you still need a fan controller, look into a zalman mfc-1, it matches the aesthetics of the case (although I'm not entirely sure if the knobs are too long). Just remember that nothing really matches the rheobus for watts per channel (the zalman is 7W per channel vs the rheobus extreme's 30W)

+1

I set mine on top of my desk for the short term. When she learns to walk, I'll deal with that scenario then.

Thanks for the suggestions...and the parenting advice . The 7110 looks ridiculous, in a good way, but it's also priced like that eh? Oh well.

I may just lift it.
