Glucosamine has some promising research done on it that shows how it can stop or reverse connective tissue damage. Granted, it takes quite a long time, but I've read some valid research pointing to preventing of arthritis and joint damage. If you've got that many problems, it might not be a bad idea to start supplementing, but only after you talk to your physician :)

Really? My interpretation was that the evidence is pretty sketchy and weak, at best...it probably wouldn't hurt anything but your wallet to try, since the stuff is pretty harmless on its own.

I've seen some good and some bad. The evidence I've seen recently shows some pretty good evidence for the pathological. I actually supplement the stuff to try to prevent connective tissue degeneration from lifting. I figure it's worth it to give it a try, especially if it had any say in how my joints work later in life. I feel that, for normal individuals, it's not all that useful though.

Not that many, just the knees. But between all of us....

Been taking it and chondroitin for 10+ years. Even now, I don't know if I have benefited but don't plan on stopping. Could really be in a world of hurt if I hadn't taken any. ACL reconstruction and torn meniscus x2 (football was very good to me.:\) in the early 80's so I think I am fortunate to be able to exercise like I do. But there is more pain than 2 years ago and I imagine it's only going to get worse.

Dr. gave me 800m ibuprofen and tylenol 3.
