If anyone knows when the new cards are coming out can you please tell me?
ALso what model nvidia cards are coming out?

The reason being is I have a bfg 9800gtx oc.I was gaming on a 1280x720p monitor and I upgraded to a 1680x1050 monitor.I have until Feb 22 to do my step up thru bfg to get a new card.

If I upgrade now from my bfg 9800gtx to a Bfg gtx 260 216 max core it will cost me $150
I dont know if I should wait and if so for how long before I should get a new video card.

I can wait until my step up date but I have no clue of what cards are coming out and what the price points are gonna be.

I was also thinking that with the new cards coming out (hopefully soon) that the cureent price of the gtx 260 will go down hence lowering the amount I have to pay for my step up upgrade.

I can sell my current card for $100 for sure but I need to hold on to it since I only have 1 comp and I dont have onboard video. So basically what should I do in this situation?

I have no plan on changing anything else in my rig anytime soon.
Hopefully about 2 years I can make it with my next video card.I dont have enough for a gtx 280 so that is out of the question.

So at 1680x1050 do you think my rig will be fine for a while with the gtx 260 216?
I am gaming good right now with my 9800gtx but I have seen the gtx 260 beating it by around 30 fps in some benchmarks.

Hopefully by feb 20 the 260 price will drop and I can upgrade then.

Yes, 1920x1200 would not even be a big problem for the GTX260

I don't know how BFG works but with EVGA's step ups the price was dependant on their set MSRP. This price didn't necessarily (see EVER) change even when newer cards did come out. So if you are going to step up to a 260 16 then you might as well do it sooner than later and get to enjoying it. EVGA has a 55nm version out now though. So if you want to wait a month or check forums for when BFG's version is coming out it would be beneficial to wait and upgrade to it over the current offering.

Yeah, they basically leave the MSRP unchanged even years after newer cards launch.

Wait for the 55nm GTX 260, that should be a honking card.

I think the big question is whether your current card is doing what you need it to do at 1680x1050. I just got a 22" monitor for Christmas and I'm happy with my 8800GT. If you have until Feb. 22, take advantage of that. Evaluate your 9800's performance over the next month. If you believe $150 would give a meaningful improvement to your gaming experience, then go for it. If not, save your cash for an upgrade in six months or so.

It's always more beneficial to wait on buying computer components. As a rule, prices go down, not up. Heck, it was hard to find an 8800GT for less than $250 at this time last year. Now they can be had for under $100.

Incidentally, where are the benchmarks showing the GTX 260 having a 30 FPS lead?

You sure have a nice overclock on your 9800 GTX. It's too bad you don't have an SLI mobo otherwise you could have added another 9800 GTX which would tide you over until the next generation of nVidia GPUs.:)

I just got my oc even higher to 807-2000-1200

I mean my card is doing good now but I have not tried to play any real gpu dependant games on it.I have played the crysis demo @ 1680x1050 everything high and maintain 30fps.

I guess i just have the itch again and it is a shame since I have only had this 9800gtx for a month.

He doesn't have to wait any longer. The new GTS 240's and GTS 250's out already. They've been out for a while.

Thanks for throwing the Confusion Wrench into the thread. I'm pretty sure many people clicking the links are unaware that the 9800 series won't be re-branded until February...you might have considered mentioning that. And at the OP's current clocks, those cards would be a waste of time and money...
