My pre-order with Mionarch for a 6800 Ultra got pushed back to an ETA of July 29... Is anyone else getting bored with the "next gen" bullsh!t? These new cards "launched" in April and it was exciting, but now it's getting a bit boring... I'm not even sure I'll even be excited anymore by the time I get my card - I'll probably already be done with both Doom3 and HL2 at this rate. Sorry for the really lame thread, but in leu of new video cards what else are we going to talk about on a Video Card forum?

Why don't you cancel and pick up a cheaper deal elsewhere? Buy.com had a $330 GT that sold out. There's actually been 3 deals now for ~$300 GTs, too bad none of them were EVGA.

I have been waiting for my X800 XT PE too. For what I paid I guess all I can do is wait. Hell my 9800 is still a hell of gamer.

I've considered it, but I really have my heart set on a BFG 6800 Ultra (the current Monarch price is more than what I paid). BB cancelled my first attempt at ordering from them, so I don't really want to try ordering from them again. Plus, the problem is not with the retailer, but with the availability of the next gen cards in general.

I agree, it is getting rather ridiculous. Perhaps the extreme rate at which nex gen cards are pushed out is finally hitting a speed bump and they are have problems getting these cards to run in a stable manner?

Just a random theory, but who knows?

Well, I've actually reconsidered this and just ordered this eVGA 6800GT. It really doesn't make sense to pay the price gougers if they are going to make you wait anyway. Thanks for setting me straight General :)

...Now I need to cancel this order with Monarch...

$399 MSRP, I didn't expect to pay much less. BestBuy has deals on them periodically, but only a few have gotten their cards out of BestBuy. I trust Newegg to get the card to me, and I think $409 shipped is a fair price.

This is why I wait until there is a need for the card before I buy. I'll prolly get a GT for $150 a couple months after these games come out, I'm satisfied with all the reviews and only after finding out my current cards see some slowdown.:) Current cards being sub $200 5950's and 9800's I also waited for:)

it will be more than a couple months for a GT to be 150. The 9800 Pro isnt even 150 yet and its been out for over a year... and a 5950 does not cost 200. I think its still 400+

Yep, plus I already have someone waiting for my FX5900. I really woudn't consider an FX5950 or a 9800 Pro a worthwhile upgrade from an FX5900.

Well, I'm not knocking your card, you got lucky. I have an FX5900 that OC's very poorly. Just because you got one for cheap and it OC's well, doesn't mean that eveyone can expect the same results.

Unless your current card is junk ;)

i had a radeon 8500 . . . i couldn't wait and got a cheap 9800"XT".

by the time the 9800xt is "slow", the next GEN (and maybe the one after) will be available and the 6800gt/u will be quite good bang-4-buck like the 9800pro is now. :)

I'm not knocking it, 409 isnt a rip off, it just isnt a deal. However, to get it right now with no hassle, it's worth it to you to pay extra rather than chasing a deal.

thats cool
