that cpu, its a pentium dual core, shudnt i get the intel core 2 duo ? or am i mistakening and its the same thing? at the moment i have a pentium D @ 2.66Ghz. some ppl told me the D stands for Dual , meaning dual cores, now they could have been totally wrong but that cpu u posted , is it alot better than the one i have right now ?

Yes its much better. You'd have to overclock you pent d to 4.0 to match it probrobly.

would i notice the difference between my 2.66 ghz cpu and the pentium dual core 2.5ghz u are showing me ? the speed of my pc? and everything is the same with a btx mobo right ? take off heatsink , open the clip thing, put the cpu in , and would i have to apply the thermal paste on this one as well ? could u fill me in i havnt worked with cpus much.

If your mobo is G965 chipset based, then I would be cautious of getting a 45nm C2D chip like the E5200. You might well be safer by getting a 65nm C2D, like an E6xxx or E4xxx. Without overclocking, the E2xxx are too weak for gaming. (Overclocked to 3.2Ghz, they're very not bad, but since you have a Dell, no overclock for you.)

larry i do not kno if my mobo is g965 based. and happy medium i do not think a heatsink and fan would do me good becuase i have a btx motherboard, i dun tnk i can use normal heatsinks, i have this heatsink with a huge black duct ontop of it, is it the same kind of normal heatsinks ?

Larrys right about the cpu compatibility. I checked and your last bios update was in the middle of 2007. I'd just go for the e6600. I'ts more exspensive but thats what your motherboard calls for. And the store you shop at has them.

About the btx issue, your right you need to reuse your heatsink air duct setup. There are no aftermarket btx heatsink fan setups I know of.

the c2D architecture (e4xxx, e6xxx ) running at same speed would be roughly 2x faster than your pentium D. And of course use less power and run cooler. I would recommend cpu as well, because cs:s on big (20+) servers does like more cpu power.

It's uses a BATX form factor, correct?
