New Car!

So this little gem popped up at a local dealership. 2011, 1 owner, clean records, well maintained, no accidents. Under 15K miles.

I almost didn't go see it because it's "black" and I didn't want a black car. The color is called Phantom Black and changes quite a bit depending on the light. From afar it looks like plain black, up close it looks graphite gray, and under bright white lights in my garage it looks chocolate metallic.

I worked out what I think was a very good deal and did what I didn't think I would and got rid of the GTI. The thought of maintaining an expensive Japanese car and a high mileage German car in addition to an expensive to maintain classic car was too much. The GTI was also due for some major services and repairs from track use.

The old:

I've added Rally Armor mud flaps and it goes in tomorrow for tint. I'll post up some new pics once I get it back and cleaned up. Next is probably a tune, I'm thinking AMS STX300 with the Cobb AP. Don't want to go crazy with mods, just a couple things.

Also thinking of trading in the all-seasons for some Blizzaks and then get a new summer set next year.

The weather has been raining like crazy here and I've been having a lot of fun with the car. The AWD system is incredible! Gobs of traction, the car just goes.

New to HIM. Very common for people to say "I got a new car" when it's a used one.

Nice ride. I've always liked the Lancer. I just hate what a lot of people do to the poor thing.

Nice. What repairs were due on the gti? I'm considering one.

Did u get a manual evo? There was a recall recently for the manual evos

Nice upgrade, did they beat you over the head on the insurance??

$12 a month more. I got a quote ahead of time in case it was insane.

The only normal use work it needed was the 80K service. I had a bunch of other stuff from track use that needed to be replaced/rebuilt - brake lines, suspension, bushings, all 4 calipers, and the aftermarket rear sway bar I had broke. If I kept it I had also planned to add a real LSD and a K04 turbo and once I started adding all that up I figured it was a good time to switch.

It's the MR so it has the TC-SST (stupid name btw). I can't believe they still use a 5 speed manual.

Smart move, I was chatting with a cashier about her new Camaro she bought a few years ago, her insurance payments were over $300/month! 😱
